2009 BRITISH AUTOTEST CHAMPIONSHIP
1. ANNOUNCEMENT
1.1 The Championship will be run to these
Regulations.
2. CARS ELIGIBLE
2.1 The Championship is open to drivers of
cars complying with Section D38 - 41 of the 2009 MSA Yearbook.
2.2 Classes
(A) Saloon cars under 11ft overall length.
(B) Saloon cars over 11ft overall length.
(C) Sports Cars and Sports Kit Cars.
(D) Specials.
(E) Road Going Saloons.
Class E must be capable of being driven on the road, must be taxed with a valid MoT (if applicable), documents to be produced at signing on. ('Saloons' will include estate cars, hatchbacks and commercial types as appropriate as well as saloon type Kit Cars. Cabriolets will run in the appropriate classes depending on whether the top is raised or lowered. Overall length of the vehicle will include bumpers whether fitted or not).
3. SCORING
3.1 This will be a class based championship.
3.2 Points will be awarded to registered
competitors relative to their position in each class as follows:
1st class : 10 points
2nd class : 9 points
3rd class : 8 points
4th class : 7 points
5th class : 6 points
6th in class : 5 points
7th in class : 4 points
8th class : 3 points
9th class : 2 points
All other classified finishers will receive 1 point.
3.3 FTD on each event will receive 1 bonus
point.
3.4 Where there are less than nine competitors
in a class there will be no reduction in points awarded.
3.5 The best six events will count in deciding
the Championship. However, should any events not run, the number of scoring
rounds will reduce by the same amount of events not run. Where there is
a tie it will be resolved in the following order:
a) The competitor who has beaten the greater number of competitors in their class in achieving their counting score.
b) If there is still a tie, then it will be resolved by the percentage improvement
between the first and second runs at the first test on their first best
scoring event, should a competitor have a maximum penalty on their first run, they will automatically lose the tie breaker, if a lesser time penalty is applied to the first run, then this will be deducted for the purpose of the calculation.
3.6 Once a competitor has registered it will
not be possible for them to disclaim any points for which they become
eligible.
3.7 In order to score points, all competitors
must display MSA championship decals on either side of the vehicle at
events. These decals are available from the Championship Co-ordinator.
4. ELIGIBLE COMPETITORS
4.1 Any holder of a 2009 Competition Licence
issued by either the MSA or Motor Sport Ireland.
4.2 Junior Trophy. Any holder of a 2009 Competition Licence issued by either the MSA or Motor Sport Ireland and is registered for this Championship as detailed in 5 below. In order to qualify, competitors must be 25 or under on the 31st December 2009.
5. REGISTRATION
5.1 Competitors must register with the MSA
before any points can be scored. Registration must be made on the official
form, and must be accompanied by the fee of £13.00. All registrations
will be acknowledged. Registration can also be made with the Championship
Co-ordinator. Registration can be made any time up to the start of the
fourth round. Points will not be awarded retrospectively. Please note
that the Co-ordinator may not be at every round, so registration should
be made in advance to ensure the correct allocation of points.

6.2 Should any round be postponed it can only be included in the Championship
with the written permission of ALL the registered contenders at
the date of postponement.

8. AWARDS
8.1 The Champion, runner-up and third overall
will receive awards.
The winner of each class will receive an award.
The winner of the Autotest Junior Trophy will receive an award.
With the exception of the Junior Trophy, no competitor may win more than one award. Overall award taking priority.
